Physics at Leicester High

Years studied: Year 6 – 11. At GCSE level all girls will study the sciences in Year 10. In Year 11, girls will either pursue a double award GCSE in Science or three individual GCSEs in the separate Sciences.

Physics is also available as an option at A Level.

Subject overview

The study of Physics is concerned with what the universe is made of, how these things move and interact with each other. Physicists are constantly striving to find the most fundamental ideas that can be used to describe the most complex of phenomena.

Physics is fundamental to all the sciences and is taught in the context of the real world. A wide range of practical activities will help you to understand the concepts involved and to gain a new appreciation of the world around you.
