The Sixth Form at Leicester High is unlike any other. Our ability to offer a tailored learning experience means we get the best out of each and every Sixth Former – Our excellent results at A-Level demonstrate our commitment to student success. We are proud to be ranked amongst The Telegraph's Top 50 UK Independent Schools for A-Level results in 2023. In 2024, 84% of our students achieved A*-B grades in STEM subjects.

Your individual experience really matters to us. We know you have strong ambitions for your future, and so do we. The academic and personal support we are able to offer enables you to reach your goals – whatever they may be.

The Sixth Form at Leicester High provides you with all the preparation you need for University and for life with outstanding academic and enrichment programmes.

Our recently redeveloped Sixth Form affords you all the learning and social space and facilities you need. We know that Further Education is where lifelong friendships are forged and flourish, and our Sixth Form structure, with mixed Year 12 and Year 13 Forms, helps to support this.

But don’t just take our word for it - please contact us to arrange a visit to see for yourself.

Sir Thomas White Trust Scholarship

For the past seven years, girls entering the Sixth Form from a state school, and resident in Leicestershire or Rutland, have been invited to apply for a Sir Thomas White Scholarship, which is 50% fees-only funded for two years.

The School has had seven Sir Thomas White Scholars in recent years. The scholarship is for an academic girl who would not have the means to pay for place normally.

The application is means-tested and applicants must have a household income of less than £50,000 per year. A bursary form needs to be completed. A personal statement, grades and references from your current school will be requested and shortlisted girls will be invited to attend an initial interview with the Head of Sixth Form and the Subject Heads of her chosen A Levels.

If successful at this initial interview, girls will be invited to attend a final interview with the Headmaster before being put forward for an interview with the trustees of the Sir Thomas White Trust.

Deadline for 2025 applications is Friday 17 January 2025.

Contact our Admissions Manager, Mrs Lindsay Jaiya to find out more or apply now.

Sixth Form Entry Requirements

Girls wishing to join the Sixth Form in Year 12 must have at least a Level 6 in six academically rigorous and relevant subjects at GCSE, including English and Maths and at least Level 7 in those subjects you wish to study at A Level.

If your predicted grades meet the above requirements, you will be given a conditional offer to join the Sixth Form, which is dependent on you achieving the entry requirement in your GCSEs.

How to Apply

Step 1: Visit Us

We have Open Days on set dates during the year, including a specific Sixth Form Open Evening in November. However, you are welcome to arrange a personal visit outside these times - either instead of, or in addition to, attending an Open Day.

You will also be invited to attend a Taster Day when you will spend time in lessons with your future classmates.

Step 2: Register

Once you have decided that you would like to progress with an application, you need to complete a Registration Form and return it to the School with an £85.00 registration fee. We will also need to take a copy of your passport and birth certificate and a copy of your predicted grades. We will also need a report from your current school.

Step 3: Induction Day

When a new girl is joining us in September, we'll invite her to an Induction Day in June. It's a chance to meet the staff, explore the school, and make new friends before school starts.

Step 4: GCSE Results Day

On GCSE results day in August, you will be invited to come into the School to meet with our Admissions Manager and our Head of Sixth Form, with your GCSE results. If you have met the entry requirements for Sixth Form admission, your offer of a place at the School will be confirmed and your contract issued.

This will need to be signed by your parents and returned, along with the £250 deposit to secure your place.
