LHS Welcomes PGCE Student Teachers
Leicester High School has recently welcomed three PGCE Student Teachers into its Staffing Body. Ishan Bhatiya, Elizabeth Fleury and Tyla Evans have arrived from the University of Leicester as part of their training to become fully qualified teachers of History, Science and Religious Studies respectively.
Below are Tyla’s reflections on how their time here at LHS has been.
“ My name is Tyla Evans, and I have very recently joined Leicester High School as a student teacher of Religious Education. Starting a placement at a new school is usually nerve-wracking. However, I have had such a warm welcome from all the staff and students at Leicester High School. All the staff members have been incredibly kind and helpful, and I already feel as though I am part of the school community. Both my placement co-ordinator and mentor have been very proactive in ensuring that I have a smooth start. I even have my own desk and computer space!
My placement co-ordinator had prioritised a meeting with the Designated Safeguarding Lead on my first day, and I will be meeting the Special Educational Needs Coordinator very soon. This makes it is incredibly clear that Leicester High School truly aims to provide all students with an exceptional all-round education and ensures that every individual is valued. This is a vision I will actively support, during my placement and beyond, as it aligns with my own personal philosophy.
Mr Ingram, head of Philosophy and Belief, is my co-tutor and I am excited to work alongside him throughout the duration of my placement. I feel very grateful to the School already, and I am sure I will continue to enjoy my time at Leicester High School.”
