Leicester High School Swimmers runners-up at City Primary School Gala
Well done to our Year 5 and 6 swimmers who secured a runners-up position in the Leicester City Primary School Swimming Gala. The event held at Wigston Swimming Pool brought together talented pupils from 10 schools across the region.
During the competition several Year 5 Leicester High pupils went head-to-head with their older peers in Year 6, making their achievement even more remarkable. A special mention must be made of Lakshmi, a Year 3 student who bravely stepped up to compete against swimmers from Years 5 and 6. Despite being younger than her competitors, Lakshmi demonstrated her remarkable abilities in the pool.
Class Teacher and Junior PE co-ordinator Freya Wood, said, “I am so proud of our pupils. They swam brilliantly and it was wonderful to hear other teachers remark how well-behaved they were throughout the gala. They also took the time to cheer on participants from other schools showing the true spirit of sportsmanship”.
Junior pupils at Leicester High benefit from PE lessons along with a multitude of extra-curricular activities delivered by specialist coaches, such as ballet, dance, karate and tennis to name a few.
