Leicester High School for Girls Celebrates its Very Own CrossFit Star
Congratulations to Leicester High School for Girls' Art and Photography teacher and Careers Advisor, Miss Elisa Ikin, for her success at the renowned Madrid Championships.
Out of 120,000 participants, Ms. Ikin and her team finished in the top 2000, a fantastic achievement.
From her early days in school and college, Ms. Ikin's passion for sports was evident. Taking part in a range of sports from badminton to hockey, her journey to CrossFit started when she watched the documentary "Fittest on Earth." The competitive nature of the sport aligned with her athletic drive, inspiring her to pursue CrossFit.
The road to the Madrid Championships wasn't easy. Along with her team, she underwent three rigorous fitness tests, eventually qualifying 17th out of 35 teams.
On the championship experience, Ms. Ikin shared, "The competition was outstanding in every aspect. Competing against such high-calibre athletes was a humbling experience. Despite being a new team, our performance was impressive as we didn't finish last in a single event."
She continued, "Competing not only allows me to give my best but also highlights areas I need to develop, and this motivates me to excel in the sport. I am now looking forward to the event in Marseille, France next summer and potentially returning to Madrid in the coming years."
Elisa’s story is not just about athleticism, but also about passion and persistence. She has advice for those pursuing ambitious dreams, "Pursue your goals passionately. Consistency is the cornerstone of success. Daily efforts, no matter how small, eventually lead to monumental achievements."
Leicester High School for Girls is incredibly proud of Ms. Ikin's achievements. Her journey exemplifies the values the school stands for - perseverance, excellence, and passion.
