Year 5 girls explore Shang Dynasty during a school trip
Leicester High School for Girls' Year 5 students recently explored one of China’s earliest dynasties, the ancient Shang Dynasty during a visit to Compton Verney in Warwickshire.
The highlight of the day was the chance to touch and inspect various original artifacts, attempting to decipher the purpose and significance of each item.
The afternoon saw the girls tasked with crafting their own Shang vessels using air-dried clay.
Teacher of Year 5, Mrs Cheryl Dryland, said, “Our Year 5 girls have shown curiosity and creativity today. It was wonderful to see their genuine interest in history."
This trip exemplifies Leicester High School for Girls' commitment to providing engaging and hands-on learning experiences that encourage a deep appreciation for history and culture.
