- What are some of your primary responsibilities?
My main responsibility is to manage the estate facilities, building maintenance and grounds. As well as security and health and safety of the site. Covering both Senior and Junior schools.
- What is your favourite thing about Leicester High School?
LHS is a great place to work. I like the people and the location/site.
- Something people don't know about you, or your department/role?
I used to be a Store Manager of a large DIY store, managing over 30 staff. For the last 12 years, I was a Project Manager for new retail store openings and construction, managing budgets of over £2 million per year. In the past few years, I have bought and refurbished several properties, including my current house, which was a major project.
- What do you enjoy about your job?
Making changes and development of the school site. Since being at LHS, I have implemented and overseen many projects, including the new music building project.
- What significant improvement or upgrade has been made to the school's infrastructure during your tenure? How did it benefit the school community?
New Modular Music/Premises building, refurbishment of ICT room, resources room and room 14. Last year, we completely refurbished the Tennis Courts which was a major project. All these improvements not only make the school look more appealing to prospective new parents but also give the students and staff a much-improved environment to teach and learn.
- What maintenance and improvement projects did you and your team work on over the summer to prepare for the upcoming academic year?
Refurbishment of the Junior washroom area, painting the Junior 1st floor corridors, renovation of the entrance pillars, Junior ICT room refurbishment, installation of a new fire suppression system in the kitchen, installation of a new lockdown alarm system. We also installed a new climbing frame and play furniture in the junior playground area.
