Junior Birdwatchers' Nature Adventures
Leicester High School for Girls' Junior Department is excited to announce its participation in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, the UK's largest citizen science wildlife survey.
Under the guidance of their teachers, students have been observing and documenting various bird species on the school grounds and at their homes as part of their homework.
As part of the survey, students have spotted birds like bluetits, robins and blackbirds, both on the school grounds and in their own gardens. This initiative aims to connect students with nature and contribute valuable data to monitor local bird populations.
Laura Heywood, Head of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), stated, "It is lovely to see our students connect with nature and learn about conservation, not only at school but also in their own homes."
Leicester High School for Girls is proud of its commitment to environmental education and looks forward to encouraging a deeper connection between its students and the natural world.
