Head of Science teaches top international students.
Leicester High School for Girls is pleased to announce that its Head of Science, Andrew McMurray, delivered significant educational sessions over the summer to international students.
The first workshop was for top young Air Cadets aged 18-21 from NATO countries such as Sweden, France and Germany as part of the International Air Cadet Exchange programme. The cadets visited the National Space Centre for a session with Andrew McMurray. He covered rockets, aerodynamics, and the mathematical modelling of orbits, including a rocket engine combustion instability demonstration.
The second workshop was for international students as part of the London International Youth Science Forum LIYSF. The forum hosted a 15-day international STEM summer camp held at Imperial College London, with students aged 16-21 from 70 countries. These students are among the best young scientists globally, having won national competitions to participate.
Twenty-five students chose to travel to the National Space Centre for a session with Andrew McMurray, focusing on applying physics, mathematics, and engineering to solve space-related problems.
“It was a privilege to engage with such bright and motivated students. Demonstrating complex concepts like rocket engine instability was truly rewarding,” said Andrew McMurray.
These sessions highlight the expertise of Andrew McMurray and his significant impact on science education. It also demonstrates Leicester High School for Girl’s commitment to providing high-quality education.
