Confidence Through Self-Defence
Sixth Form students at Leicester High School for Girls have recently begun a series of weekly self-defence classes, equipping them with essential skills for personal safety and boosting their confidence.
Led by qualified instructors Pete and Dan from the award-winning GNR8 Academy, these classes are an integral part of the School's commitment to preparing students for life beyond the classroom. During the sessions, students will focus on building confidence, understanding different self-defence techniques, and practising boxing fundamentals, including basic stances and movements. The interactive, hands-on approach ensures students can effectively apply what they learn in real-life situations.
Mr. Mark Ryman, Head of Sixth Form, shared his thoughts on the initiative:
"It's wonderful to see our students making the most of the opportunity to learn this way. Enrichment opportunities like this are vital in preparing our students for life beyond school, helping them develop a well-rounded perspective."
The self-defence classes are part of the wider enrichment programme offered to Sixth Form students at Leicester High School for Girls, reflecting the school's holistic approach to education.
