Science GCSE
All pupils study the sciences to GCSE level at Leicester High School and follow the Edexcel International GCSE specification. During Year 10 and 11 girls will either pursue a double award GCSE in Science or three individual GCSEs in the separate Sciences. Both routes follow a rigorous and challenging Science curriculum and result in an internationally recognised qualification.
The separate Sciences route is best suited to those girls who have a strong aptitude for science and show a desire to take the subjects to beyond A-level. The double award at GCSE delivers a slightly less in-depth but slower paced syllabus. Both routes provide a qualification that is suitable for entry into A-level Science courses.
On the option form we ask girls to indicate their preference, final decisions about the most suitable route are taken after discussion with the science teacher and performance during Year 9.
