Enrichment

What is Enrichment?

Enrichment is about giving every pupil the chance to enjoy experiences that bring their learning to life.

Why do we have the LHS Enrichment Programme?

  • To help pupils create lifelong memories.
  • To support them in becoming confident, well-rounded individuals.
  • To offer fun, meaningful experiences beyond the classroom.
  • To provide unique opportunities that help pupils stand out—whether for UCAS applications or personal development.

These activities take place before and after School and at lunchtime.

Enrichment Highlights

Duke of Edinburgh Award

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a cornerstone of our Enrichment Programme, with most Senior girls participating, starting at the Bronze level. Many progress to achieve Silver and even Gold, building on their skills and pushing their limits.

This prestigious award is highly regarded by universities and employers, as it demonstrates resilience, determination, and a commitment to personal growth. Beyond the accolades, the DofE allows students to:

  • Develop life skills such as teamwork, independence, and organisation.
  • Build confidence and make lasting friendships.
  • Take part in meaningful activities, from community service to learning new skills.

Having done Bronze, Silver and currently doing Gold I have made lifelong friends and definitely memories that will stick with me for a long time

Trips and Visits

At Leicester High School for Girls, our trips and residential visits are designed to enrich learning, build connections, and spark inspiration. These experiences connect classroom knowledge with the real world, helping pupils grow as individuals.

Highlights include:

  • Junior and Lower School: Year 6 Residential Bonding Trip and visits to the Pitt Rivers Museum for Art.
  • Middle School: Sheringham Geography Residential (Year 7) and GCSE Biology Fieldwork at the Cranedale Centre.
  • Senior and Sixth Form:
    • Normandy Residential for French students.
    • Bay of Naples trip for Food Studies and Geography.
    • Psychology Conference in Birmingham.
    • DNA Workshop at the University of Leicester.

Whether it’s a museum visit, a national conference, or an international residential, each trip is carefully planned to deepen understanding, spark curiosity, and create cherished memories.
