Art Trip to Blaby Antique Centre - Leicester High School for Girls
Students from Leicester High School for Girls recently visited Blaby Antique Centre as part of their Art studies, focusing on the theme of vintage and retro.
The trip provided an opportunity for the girls to engage with a variety of historical objects and draw inspiration for their sketch work.
During their visit, the students sketched items ranging from jewellery and homeware to signage and memorabilia, using the diverse displays as a starting point for their creative work. The experience was designed to help develop observational skills and explore the artistic value of everyday objects from the past.
Mr Rose, Head of Art, said, “The visit allowed the girls to work in a different environment, encouraging them to think about how history and art connect. They were able to explore shapes, patterns, and textures, which would contribute to their ongoing coursework.”
The girls' sketches will form part of their studies and may feature in school displays later in the year.
