Leicester High School Celebrates Success at Prize Giving
Leicester High School for Girls held its Senior Prize Giving event last Friday evening.
The occasion, which also welcomed Year 11 and 13 parents, showcased the School's commitment to academic excellence, personal growth, and community spirit. The guests were greeted with a musical performance by Year 12 student Mollie, who played the guitar as they entered the hall.
Soon after, Head Girl Mia W took the stage and delivered a warm welcome address that set the tone for an evening filled with pride and celebration.
The highlight of the event was the heartfelt speech delivered by the Headmaster, Mr Alan Whelpdale, who emphasised the qualities of compassion, empathy, and kindness embodied by true heroes.
Alan remarked, "The compassion and camaraderie I see on a daily basis in School makes me proud to know each and every one of you."
Furthermore, he spoke about the advantages of girls' schools and the invaluable impact of women in leadership roles. Citing strong evidence, he highlighted the academic achievements resulting from girls-only education, further affirming the school's commitment to encouraging young women.
Former Head Girl Tia and former Deputy Head Shreya took to the stage next, sharing experiences and memories from their time at Leicester High. Their speeches showed how important the school was in influencing their personal and academic growth, especially during the crucial Sixth-Form years.
The ceremony proceeded with the presentation of various awards. The prestigious Headmaster's Award was given to former Head Girl Tia, which was a testament to her exceptional achievement.
Guest speaker, the renowned English actor Anton Lesser, also attended the event and shared insights into his illustrious career. He imparted wise advice, emphasising the possibility of changing career paths and expressed his admiration for the school. Anton also had the honour of presenting the prizes.
Following the ceremony, guests had the opportunity to chat over drinks and canapés, making the most of the final moments before the students move on to their next chapter.
