Leicester High School for Girls Celebrates World Book Day
Leicester High School for Girls marked World Book Day with a series of enjoyable activities aimed at promoting literacy and creativity among students.
The day kicked off with a lively assembly, where students and staff showcased their creativity by dressing up as beloved book characters or authors. From Where's Wally and Fagan to Mrs. Trunchbull and Hook, the School hall was filled with literary figures. As part of the festivities, students also took part in a pre- loved book swap at lunchtime and book quizzes in class. The Prefect team held an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ themed bake sale at break time. All girls in Years 6-13 were also given a £1 book token to spend in local bookshops.
Mrs. Kate Penney, Head of English at Leicester High School for Girls, commented, "World Book Day provides a wonderful opportunity for our students to engage with literature in a fun and interactive way. We're delighted to see their enthusiasm for dressing up, reading and storytelling.
