Leicester High School Hosts Insightful Talk on Screen Time and Mental Health
Leicester High School for Girls welcomed Dr. Sanjiv Nichani OBE last week, who delivered an insightful presentation titled "Screen-Demic".
Dr Nichani is a highly experienced Consultant Paediatrician and has been working at the Leicester Children's Hospital in the University Hospitals of Leicester for the last 25 years. His talk focused on the growing issue of mental health challenges in children and young people related to excessive screen time and social media use.
Dr. Nichani's presentation highlighted the importance of balance in technology use, particularly the role social media plays in shaping young people’s well-being. The session offered students a chance to reflect on their own habits and how these might be impacting their emotional and mental health. For parents and staff, the talk provided valuable insights into the pressures young people face in today’s digital age and ignited important discussions on supporting healthier screen habits.
The event was arranged with the support of Spire Healthcare Group plc, and the school is grateful for their contribution in making this valuable learning opportunity possible.
