Leicester High School celebrated British Science Week with a number of events throughout the week.
Our Year 13 Biology students recently took part in the Biology Olympiad. This competition challenges and stimulates students with an interest in biology to expand and extend their talents. Students were presented with topics and ideas which they were not familiar with, so had to utilise their problem-solving skills and understanding of core principles.
I am pleased to inform you that Ayesha N recently participated in a doubles badminton competition and has achieved a milestone. She prepped for the Derek Meakin junior memorial badminton tournament held at Coalville on 11th Feb 2023. (Doubles only)
On Thursday 2 March we celebrated World Book Day. The Juniors got fully into the spirit of the event with dress-up for both the staff and girls. Their visit to the Senior Assembly, including a truly terrifying Miss Trunchbull!, will go down in LHS history!
Alongside assembly, there were also book-related crafting activities and a book swap for girls and staff.
Thank you to Warning Zone interactive E-Safety Learning Zone Road Crew who delivered an hour-long show to Years 8 and 9 on Wednesday 8 March. The show was packed with interesting and surprising information about online safety and risks.
On Saturday 11 March, we welcomed 20 girls from primary schools across the county to our PE Masterclass. Girls attended from Linden Primary, Mellor Community Primary, Brookside Primary, St John the Baptist, Old Mill primary & Church Langton Primary for a morning of fun sporting activities.

On Friday March 3rd Year 11 attended What Career/What University Live at the NEC. Here they had the opportunity to speak directly to Universities and employers as well as attend talks and get one-to-one careers advice.
On Saturday 18th February, it was the D of E training day for Bronze, Silver and Gold participants. A total of 60 students across Years 9-12 attended the day at school in preparation for their upcoming expeditions. This year, there is a total of 6 groups enrolled at Bronze, 3 groups enrolled at Silver, and 1 group enrolled at Gold.
On Sunday 26th February representatives from the Young Enterprise team ‘Flames and Fables’ took part in the Trade fair at Beaumont Shopping Centre.
As part of our Gold D of E Award we embarked upon learning a foreign language in Paris alongside students from all over the world to complete our residential section.
