Pupils Join Botanic Gardens Ceremony
Leicester High School for Girls' Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Year 2 classes had an exciting afternoon at the Botanical Gardens last week.
They learned about plants, participated in a Coronation Tree Planting Ceremony, and Year 2 students performed a delightful song.
Ruth Godfrey, from the Botanic Gardens, extended a special invitation to the pupils, which the school eagerly accepted. Given the school's commitment to sustainability, they were thrilled to participate in this meaningful event.
Under the guidance of their teachers, the students explored the gardens, learning about different plant species and nature's wonders. The highlight of the day was the Coronation Tree Planting Ceremony. Year 2 students serenaded the audience with a heartwarming song. Miss Ellie Stell Year 2 teacher, said “I am so proud of our students for their active participation and enthusiasm in exploring the natural world."
The excursion emphasised holistic education and environmental stewardship. It left a lasting impact on the students' educational journey, encouraging a love for learning and nature.
