LHS Students Enter Prestigious National Essay Competition

Leicester High School for Girls is delighted to announce that two of our Year 9 students, Ashna and Soma, have been selected as our entries for the prestigious Perse Cambridge Aristotelian Award for Research essay competition.

This highly regarded national competition encourages independent research skills in Year 9 pupils, offering them the opportunity to explore extra-curricular interests across the arts, humanities, and sciences.

Ashna and Soma were chosen as winners of the LHS internal competition, showcasing their intellectual curiosity and analytical skills through their thought-provoking essays:

  • Ashna S – Algebra or geometry: which field is more relevant to everyday life?
  • Soma E – To what extent are plant-based diets better for the environment than meat-based diets?

Both students demonstrated exceptional research and critical thinking in their submissions. Their essays will now be judged at the national level, with results set to be announced in March.

We are incredibly proud of Ashna and Soma and wish them the best of luck in the next stage of the competition!
