As we come to the end of the third week back at School, after a busy summer of preparations, our plans, one-way systems and distancing measures have been put to the test and the girls have settled back into the rhythm of face to face studying.
Last academic year was one of the most unusual and challenging of my Sixth Form leadership career. I am so proud of how last year's Year 13s handled the exam results changes with maturity and supported each other through what was a very stressful period.
Our strong results have meant the majority of the girls have secured their chosen places at University. I am sure many of the girls will continue the friendships they have developed during their time at LHS through their move to university and beyond.
Looking to our Sixth Form for this academic year, I am pleased to announce that our new Prefect Team have announced their chosen charity for this year as The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust, which was founded to tackle inequality in all forms. You can ‘meet’ our Prefect Team on our website and find out more about their plans for this academic year.
It has been great to get to know our new Year 12 girls during these first few weeks of term. They are already becoming a tight knit group – whether they have been at the School since they were 3 years old, or started with us this September. It’s also been great to see our Year 13 girls supporting Year 12 with their UCAS applications and personal statements, which they have been working hard on perfecting.
With many challenges and questions still ahead of us for this academic year, I know the girls will continue to support each other through whatever may come our way and we, as staff, will be on hand to guide the girls through their next steps.
