TEACHER AMONGST TOP 1% OF ATHLETES WORLDWIDE IN CROSSFIT GAMES

Leicester High School for Girls is celebrating an incredible sporting achievement by one of its teachers.
Ms Elisa Ikin, who teaches Art and Photography, has reached the semi-finals of the CrossFit Games – placing her in the top 1% of competitors worldwide.
This extraordinary accomplishment comes after Elisa made a last-minute decision to enter the CrossFit Games Open this year, just two months after returning to running following a significant injury.
The CrossFit Games Open is a global competition involving hundreds of thousands of athletes from around the world. Over the course of three intense competition weekends, Elisa’s hard work and determination paid off as she advanced to the semi-finals – a level she has never reached before.
“I’m still in some disbelief,” Elisa said. “I’ve been working hard in the shadows of so many incredible athletes and didn’t expect to get this far, especially after the challenges of the past year. It’s an honour to make it to the semi-finals.”
Elisa trains with Flux, a coaching programme that has supported her throughout her journey. Her coach recently shared a celebratory post recognising her dedication and performance.
Alan Whelpdale, Headmaster at Leicester High, said: “We are incredibly proud of Elisa and her amazing achievement. To reach the top 1% of athletes in a global competition is a remarkable feat – even more so given the adversity she has overcome. She is a real inspiration to our students.”
Elisa will compete in the CrossFit Games semi-finals this May.
