Wind in the Willows School Production

Leicester High School for Girls was transformed this week into the world of Wind in the Willows, as pupils brought the classic tale to life.

Junior pupils had the opportunity to watch the performance on Monday, ahead of the public showings on Tuesday and Wednesday, which were open to parents, families, and members of the wider community.

This year’s production took on a cabaret-style format, with scenes performed at different stages around the room. The audience moved with the story, experiencing the adventures of Mole, Ratty, Toad and Badger from multiple perspectives. From Toad’s wild motorcar escapades to the tranquility of life by the river, each moment was carefully staged to immerse the audience in the beloved countryside tale.

Midway through the performance, guests enjoyed a picnic-style interval, complete with charming picnic boxes—adding a touch of riverside nostalgia to the evening.

Mrs Rose, Head of Drama, said:

"The girls have worked so hard to bring this imaginative version of Wind in the Willows to life. The cabaret-style format was a challenge, but they rose to it brilliantly. It was wonderful to see our audience so engaged in the performance. I'm incredibly proud of everyone involved."

The creative staging, talented cast, and warm atmosphere made for a memorable experience that was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Thank you to everyone who joined us and to all those who worked so hard to make the production such a success.
