Year 12 Students Take on CityZen Sustainability Challenge
Eight ambitious Year 12 students from Leicester High School for Girls have reached the second phase of the prestigious CityZen online competition, showcasing their passion for sustainability and innovative thinking
Divided into two teams of four, the students successfully completed the first part of the challenge, a digital game designed to test their problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Supported by an external mentor, the students are now focusing on their creative project, pitching ideas on how civil engineering can improve their local environment. This exciting second phase allows them to apply critical thinking and STEM knowledge to real-world challenges, developing skills aligned with the national curriculums for geography and design technology.
CityZen, organised by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), offers participants invaluable insight into a globally vital career in civil engineering. The experience is enriched with opportunities to earn a certificate of participation and compete for prizes, including up to £2,000 in cash, vouchers, and a VIP meal with the ICE president.
The School is proud of the students’ achievements and looks forward to seeing their innovative sustainability solutions come to life.
