Year 5’s Unforgettable Day at Gaulby Lodge Farm

Year 5 pupils at Leicester High School for Girls had an unforgettable visit to Gaulby Farm, bringing their Cornerstone Education topic—Sow, Grow, and Farm—to life.

The girls toured the farm, exploring the milking parlour, lambing pens, and cow shed while learning about the realities of farm life.

The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly getting to cuddle newborn lambs, an experience that the pupils will never forget.

A particularly memorable moment came when the Head of Junior School, Mrs. Davies, assisted in the hand-delivery of two lambs, giving the pupils a unique opportunity to witness new life entering the world.

The visit was a fantastic way to reinforce their classroom learning, leaving them with a greater appreciation for farming and the hard work behind food production.
