Year 9 Students Excel in Lichess Girls' Chess Competition
Well done to two of our Year 9 students, Sarah and Yomna, who achieved good rankings in the recent Lichess Girls' Chess Competition.
Yomna secured an impressive 10th position out of 57 participants in the competition, whilst Sarah finished in 40th place.
In a field of 53 participating schools, Leicester High School for Girls currently holds the 9th position in the chess league. Our commitment to nurturing talents and encouraging a love for chess among our students is evident in their participation and achievements.
Chess is one of the many enrichment activities offered at Leicester High School for Girls. It not only encourages critical thinking and strategic planning but also promotes sportsmanship and intellectual growth. We are proud of Sarah and Yomna's dedication to chess and their contributions to our school's chess program.
